Choose the beam dump that fits the maximum average power to which the beam dump will be exposed.
A safe Maximum Power Density for our convection and water cooled beam dumps under most applications would be <100W/cm2.
In pulsed applications , the average power is found by multiplying the (PULSE ENERGY) x (REP Rate)
Always wear appropriate eyewear when the laser is running!!

Beam dumps for over 50 watts are water-cooled. You must attach 1/4” OD tubing (one for inlet, one for outlet) to provide a flow of water to thefittings at the rear of the water-cooled beam dumps. Tubing available from VERE per foot.
NEVER USE WATER COOLED DUMPS WITHOUT WATER FLOWING.
Recommended water flow:
0 - 200W =1/4gpm
201 - 500W = 1/2gpm
501- 1000W =1 1/2gpm
All beam dumps may experience damage to the hard black non-reflective coating after long term exposure. Our beam dumps are designed not to reflect the beam even if the coating is damaged. Should the black coating suffer damage due to extreme beam exposure, it is still capable of trapping the beam.
Normal Operation: < 0.1% reflectance from 0.1 to 30.0 microns
